Silhouettes of Service

Is the world full of good people? You bet! The only problem is we don't know it because the good people have a way of slipping through the cracks and never getting recognized. They're like silhouettes--we catch a glimpse of them but see no detail. They leave our lives as quickly as they come, and the only thing they have in common with each other is that they leave us feeling better about the world. It could be anyone--a waiter, a cashier, a mother-in-law, or a bus driver. No matter who it is, they go out of their way to make us feel special, and they need to be recognized for it. So let's do it!

Submission Details

When you meet someone that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, here's what you should do:
  1. Let them know it! Thank them and sincerely express why you appreciated their service.
  2. Ask if you can take their picture so that it can go on a cool blog (ahem . . . this blog).
  3. Snag their email address if you can. If it's too weird, that's okay, too.
  4. In under 500 words, write about your experience, especially what made this particular moment stand out to you.
  5. Send the picture and write-up to callingforcharacter@gmail.com.
  6. Watch for the published post and then let them know that they're famous!
